Upcoming Florida Gun Shows are Big Opportunities for Huckabee Supporters
Before the January 29th Florida primary, there are major gun shows in Broward and Dade counties. These are opportunities that should not be missed by Huckabee supporters. Yesterday on his website, Mike released a new policy statement about 2nd Amendment rights. This is one issue where clear differences can be drawn between Mike and other top Republican contenders. These gun shows are opportunities for us to interact with gun owners who are no strangers to politics and a potential source of support for Governor Huckabee.

Wish I had to know about Fort Lauderdale gun show before today. I will try to go Sunday afternoon before they close. Everytime I go out of the house I take Huckabee bumper stickers. I receive many requests from people in the parking lot when I go shopping at the super mercado or mall for information about where to buy them. I have given many away. I tell them, “If you will to put it on your car now, I give it to you for nothing.”

David…for Christ you stand, that is hilarious. What did Christ carry? How many guns did He and the disciples own? A Christian supporting guns? What version of the bible have you read? I guess the one written byn the NRA. You are a complete moron.
***Blog Editor’s note: Last time I read the Bible Jesus was Jewish, lived as a Jew, and ultimately died as one. Jewish law makes some definite statements about defense: from the national level to the personal. Therefore, organized warfare and personal combat were not prohibited outright. Christian scholars have struggled with the concept of “justifiable war” and “self-defense” for centuries. World War II, perhaps our intervention in Bosnia, are probably as close as we’ll ever get to nearly universally accepted “justibifable” war. On a personal level, there are a number of Christian scholars who make complelling arguments for coming to the aid of the defenseless, defense of the weak against the agressors, criminals, etc. as a duty of Christians who are able to respond. To answer Yamile’s specific question: Since firearms were not around during Biblical times, we’ll never know what Jesus’ would have carried.
As for the NRA, while not having authored a “bible” (However, there is a famous book among shooters entitled “The Shooter’s Bible.”) a classic slogan of theirs is “Only FREE men own guns.” (These days that is probably politically incorrect as well as factually incorrect judging by the increasing numbers of women who are becoming gun owners.) This harkens back to the true intent of the Second Amendment — as the ultimate guarantor of all our other rights, and not, as many have implied, the rights of hunters and target shooters, etc. to continue their leisure activities. Thomas Jeffereson’s famous quotation on this topic still applies today.
Of all the Presidential candidates of both parties, Mike Huckabee is the ONLY one (IMHO) who truly “gets it” about the Second Amendment, thus making gun shows a natural venue for seeking supporters.
As for Yamile’s assertion that David is “a moron,” I believe that while he may not be “the sharpest tool in the shed” he doesn’t really qualify as a moron. However, judging people, especially in an insulting manner, tends to say more about person making the judgement than the person being judged.
